HOPE AI Coach Juanita is named after Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant’s unforgettable spirit of a mother, Juanita Murray Smith. To quote John, “she was one of a kind”. She came up from nothing. From a shotgun shack with an outhouse attached in East St. Louis to moving to Los Angeles to provide a better life for her children. She became a millionaire even though she worked an hourly job, making $18 an hour at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. She passed on September 10, 2023, right before her 89th birthday. Thank you, Juanita Smith: what a woman, what a mother, what a friend.
